Finally, after everything was over, I reached home. The door shut behind me with a dull thud, sealing the night outside. My shirt was filthy, carrying traces of what I had done, of what I had erased. I had already instructed my men to take care of the body, to make sure nothing remained. No evidence. No loose ends. Some men didn’t deserve memories—only disappearance.
